Challenge your strategic mind with Renju! This is the same puzzle that is well-known as Tic Tac Toe. You can play it online without any restrictions. Can you line up five of your stones first and beat your opponent? Let’s find out!

Welcome to Renju! You can play online for free and without registration here on OllGames. You can compete against the computer at three different difficulty levels. You can also play battles against real players to improve your skills. The rules are very simple, but it’s hard to win. With practice, your skills will get better. Join us!

How to play

Renju is like Tic Tac Toe. Players put stones on any empty space on the Go board. They take turns. The winner is the first player to get a row of five of their pieces (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal).

Rules of Renju

  • Black moves first.
  • Usually, you can’t take stones off the board after you put them on, but the online game lets you cancel for learning purposes.
  • The player with a row of five stones wins. If the board is completely full but no one has won, the game ends in a draw.

Renju features for two players online

  • The game has three difficulty levels: beginner, intermediate, and expert.
  • You can cancel without a counter.
  • People make funny comments about wins and losses.

Choose the Renju game option with a human to play against a friend on your device. Take turns putting stones down to make a continuous line before your opponent.

How is Renju different from Gomoku?

Renju and Gomoku are the same game. It is also called “five in a row” and has a very ancient history. Traditionally, Gomoku is played on a goban, which is a 19×19 grid board used for the game of Go. The goal is to be the first to form a continuous line of five or more stones. Renju is a variation of Gomoku (five in a row). It’s basically the same game, but on a smaller board (15×15 squares) with rules to balance out the advantage of the first move.

Here’s an interesting fact: “renju” is a Chinese word that translates to “string of pearls.” This is because the objective of the game is to create a continuous sequence of stones, as if stringing beads. The term “Renju” is also used to talk about speaking quickly. The name of the game Gomoku comes from the Japanese word for five in a row.
