How to play Patriarch Solitaire
The game begins with eight foundation piles and nine reserve cards. Your task: to play cards from the deck and discard. Half of the game’s patriarchs (Aces and Kings) start build piles, and the nine spaces in between are reserve spaces.
Transfer the cards to the funds in the correct order: Aces – in increasing suits, Kings – in decreasing order. Carry over between stacks of funds is allowed. If there are no suitable moves, use the reserve. At the same time, remember that as soon as any card leaves the reserve, its place will immediately be filled by the topmost of the discard pile. A non-playing card is placed in the “hang up”, but remains available when re-dealing.

Don’t move reserve cards into funds just because you can. First, flip the discard pile to the most advantageous value of the card, which can be used in the next turn or after one or two positions.
